Comic Book Review - Excalibur #8

 EXCALIBUR
Volume One, Issue #8
"Excalibur's New York Adventure"

Written by Chris Claremont

Art by Ron Lim & Josef Rubenstein
1988, 32 pages each

Re: After the events of Inferno, the team get a guest artist and wander around New York doing stuff.

Outstanding: Not much, really, though Brian's struggles with his powers that seem to be fading is interesting.

Unacceptable: Ron Lim, while a decent artist in his own right, does this issue no favors, with cartoony expressions and light details in the backgrounds. The colors are also exceptionally muddy and Claremont's dialogue even seems off. There are a lot more "Yum." thought balloons from passerbys than usual.

Summary: Usually issues like this, the quieter everyday ones are my favorite, but this one has always been at the bottom of the barrel. I usually skip it completely when reading the series. There just isn't anything important enough to bother.
